The (Lost) Opportunity Cost of MLM

The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

This includes not only the money spent in buying (or doing) the something, but also the economic benefits that you did without because you bought (or did) that particular something and thus can no longer buy (or do) something else.

For example, the opportunity cost of choosing to join one MLM Opportunity over another is not merely the money spent on monthly product costs, or the price of advertising, and so on, but also the fact that you could have joined another opportunity, under another Sponsor, using potentially a different methodology which could have earned you more money. Additionally, for example the relationships with your family could be worse, as you now need to spend more time advertising online.

These lost opportunities may represent a significant loss of other benefit to you e.g. income or time.

Most people have a primary relationship with their chosen MLM Opportunity and they are likely to put that relationship above all else.

As an example, take 10 different Network Marketers who each have a primary allegiance to their chosen MLM Business - what do they do? - They advertise to each other, often for months, but never have they ever thought about working together. That's because they can only ever see the other nine people working in their Team - they wouldn't ever dream of joining someone else's downline unless or until they had lost interest in their primary MLM Opportunity.

It's this mindset that's stopping real downline growth; and Network Marketers are being sucked into online advertising, a.k.a. traffic and lead generation to compensate for this lack of strategic awareness.

Consider in the previous example that those 10 people never ever sponsored each other - who would earn from this strategy?

The answer is simple - no one!

And yet they could be spending months or years advertising to each other.

On the other hand, let's assume that all ten of them decided to work together. Let's assume that they figured out which of the 10 MLM Opportunities was most able to support each of their income requirements and they then sponsored each other accordingly...

So, my friend which was their best strategy?

a. Remaining competitive or

b. Collaborating together?

Clearly, it's collaboration. This is a no-brainer!

Just imagine the lost opportunity cost of remaining in a state of competition with the very people you need in your downline because your primary expectation is always to sponsor the competition into your chosen MLM Opportunity?

Crazy isn't it... and yet no one is telling you this!
